We offer a unique Martial Arts program. Both teens and adults enjoy our classes.
Our teens like the flashy high and jumping kicks Taekwondo offers, as well as our incorporation
of mixed martial arts (MMA) concepts. At the same time, our more mature
adults really enjoy our realistic self-defense classes. Both men and women participate in
our Martial Arts program. There is something for everyone in our classes.
Angel Redondo Taekwondo & Fitness provides traditional Taekwondo classes with some MMA concepts incorporated into them.
Students learn the traditional Taekwondo forms or hyungs, kicks, blocks, strikes and the famous breaking techniques, as well
as effective self-defense. All of these are taught with mandatory traditional uniform (dobok).
Some of our classes are not as traditional, but more geared towards fullfilling todays interest in the MMA style of fighting.
This class has many different components. In Basics classes students learn the basic blocking, striking and kicking techniques
which provide the foundation for more advanced material. In Forms classes students learn a set of pre-arranged techniques designed
to practice attacking and defending in multiple directions, against multiple attackers. When done well, these Forms are very graceful
to look at, similar to dancing. Forms teach control, power, balance and coordination amongst many other things. They also help students
get acquainted with the techniques that are necessary to pass each belt level. Forms help to stay in touch with the philosophical and historical
background of Taekwondo.
Similar to our Basics classes, Self-Defense class has many different building blocks. This class teaches students how to use a variety of techniques
for the purpose of self-defense. The more students understand the basics of Taekwondo, the better they will be in self-defense.
Unlike other martial arts, Taekwondo self-defense is composed of blocks that can be used as strikes, hence doubling the effect of any multiple
self-defense sequences and allowing a student to defend twice as fast. Using these combinations of blocks and strikes can sometimes be deadly.
Taekwondo kicking techniques are world-renowned. This kicking class covers all types of kicks, from beginning to advanced in detail. There are many aspects
of good kicks, but accuracy, balance and flexibility are the basics of all. To become a good kicker, a student has to devote a lot of time to develop speed and power in
their legs. Natural abilities can be displayed by those who can jump to high levels, as well as those who can kick very high without ever taking both feet off
the floor at the same time. Since most people have more strength in their legs than in their arms, it makes sense to use legs to strike when possible.
Sparring class is where students engage in freestyle fighting to develop stamina, speed, and distance control as well as all other aspects of fighting.
This class is broken into various types of sparring: point sparring, WTF sparring, grappling and MMA style fighting. The more a student participates in this
class, the more comfortable and confident he or she will get with all different types of fighting, including street fighting. Some students take this class to
the next level and participate in local, national and international tournaments. This class is a favorite choice for most of our students, but more so for teenagers
and young adults.

This class was developed for individuals who want to learn self-defense, but who do not want a martial arts class. Some individuals
prefer to learn only real life self-defense moves. Many people are fearful of dangerous situations in which they cannot defend themselves.
Some do not even consider or think about the dangers they may be confronted with one day. Most are not familiar with very basic,
easy-to-learn (sometimes lifesaving) self-defense techniques. In this class, individuals will learn how to recognize situations that could lead
to more serious complications and how to deal with them to avoid physical confrontations. Nobody, including trained professionals, wants to have
physical confrontations if they can be avoided by verbal or physically distracting tactics. One only refer to physical means when everything else
fails or it becomes a quick life or death situation.
When everything else fails we have to use our physical self-defense tactics
to get out of dangerous situations. In this class, students will learn basic hand to hand combat techniques, how to get out of the most common grabs
or holds as well as how to do basic disarms of the knife and gun. It is very scary for an untrained person to be confronted with a physical situation, but
with a little bit of awareness of how self-defense really works, most common situations can be avoided. Women enjoy this class because it enpowers them with
the confidence and the physical know-how of most common self-defense situations.
